What Camera Do You Use?
Most of the photography you'll see on my site is done using a five megapixel Nikon Coolpix 5700. I paid a crapload of money for it about five years ago, but it has served me very well. That hasn't kept me from wanting something better.
I'm still a little undecided for my next camera, but I'm leaning towards a Nikon D80 or a Canon 40D. If I had an endless supply of cash, I'd go for the Canon 5D. I've done some freelance with it, and it's awesome.
Depending on your experience, a modest amount of money can land you with
more camera than you can handle. A great starter SLR is the
Canon Digital Rebel. The only drawback is the plastic body, but that shouldn't be an issue for most people.
Before you do any shopping, I'd recommend spending some time at Steve's Digicams. He's got tons of in-depth reviews on practically every kind of camera you can think of.
Of course when it comes to great pictures, a lot more depends on the photographer than the equipment. As a photography teacher of mine in college was fond of saying, "You don't take good pictures, you make them."

awesome sauce. thanks. Im not bad with a camera, ive just never been able to get my hands on what could be considered "good". My best camera i had was a little 110 camera when i was a teenager. Hense why i now want to invest in a solid camera. something in the 7-8megapixel range, possibly with HD recording capability. (i dont mind saving up for good gear)
eh, scratch that. i just remembered how much HD movie cameras still cost.
I have a Nikon D40X. I love it. Unless you're going to store over three hundred pics on your camera before downloading (which is a piece of cake), I would recommend the D40 over the D80. The functionality of the D40 renders it far more bang for your buck then the D80. I bought my D40 with an extra zoom lense.
Thanks, Possummomma. Actually there are a couple of factors that are pushing me towards the D80. It's faster, has more autofocus regions, and is compatible with more autofocus lenses than the D40. For that matter, if I'm patient enough I might just go with the Canon 40D instead. Just more $$.
